An ALR screen changes everything
A UST projector on a bare wall looks good in the dark. Pair it with an Ambient Light Rejecting (ALR) screen and it looks extraordinary with the lights on.
ALR screens are engineered to reflect the projector's light straight back at you while absorbing light from windows and lamps overhead. The result: deeper blacks, punchier colour, and a picture that holds up at a Sunday-afternoon braai or a lights-on match day.

The things people ask us most before bringing a laser cinema home.
Do I need a special screen, or can I project onto my wall?
You can project onto a smooth, light-coloured wall and it'll look good in a darker room. But to get the bright, punchy, lights-on picture these projectors are capable of, an ALR (ambient light rejecting) screen makes a dramatic difference. The L9Q includes one; for the others we'll recommend the right size and type for your wall.
How far from the wall does it sit?
Very close — that's the whole point of ultra short throw. Depending on the model and image size, the projector sits roughly 10–40cm from the wall on a normal TV cabinet. A 100" image needs only around 17cm for the Epson LS800W and a bit more for the Hisense models. No ceiling mount, no cables across the room.
Will it work in a bright lounge with big windows?
Yes — especially the brighter models. The L9Q (5,000 lumens) and Epson LS800W (4,000 lumens) are built for exactly this, and paired with an ALR screen they hold a vivid picture during the day. For darker rooms or budget builds, the PT1 and PX3-Pro are excellent.
Which one is best for gaming?
The Hisense PX3-Pro is the gamer's pick — it's the world's first "Designed for Xbox" UST projector with a 240Hz high-refresh, low-latency mode. The Epson LS800W also has a dedicated low-lag gaming input at around 20ms. We'll match the projector to your console and TV setup.
Do I need a separate sound system?
Often not. Every model has a capable built-in system — from 46W up-firing speakers on the PT1 to the Devialet-tuned 6.2.2 setup on the L9Q. Many rooms need nothing more. If you want a full surround setup, we can spec that too.
Can you install it for me?
Yes. We deliver nationwide and offer professional installation — positioning, geometry, focus, screen alignment and audio setup all dialled in. You get a perfectly tuned picture without the trial and error.
What about warranty and after-sales support?
Everything we sell is genuine South African stock with full manufacturer warranty, backed by our own local team. If anything goes wrong, you phone a real person in JHB, CPT or DBN — not an overseas call centre.
